Labor – The Worst #1
Labor - The Worst #1
The NSW government has been unable to say when it will be able to build 75,000 new homes per year as the state struggles to meet national mandates.
Figures set under the National Housing Accord, NSW will need to build 375,000 new dwellings by June 30 2029. Over the 5 years this equals 75,000 new homes need to be built every year.
From ABC:
Short-stay rental properties in NSW could be hit with a new tax under new measures being floated to ease the state’s housing crisis.
The NSW government released a paper today to examine how short-stay rentals and holiday homes could be converted to long-term rental accommodation.
Housing and Homelessness Minister Rose Jackson said the government would not “shy away” from the tough decisions needed to address housing affordability.
“We know the housing crisis is real and we don’t want any part of the housing market to be unexamined – everything’s under the microscope,” she said.
What this sounds like to us is the government, being the useless wankers they are, have failed to meet yet again another requirement of government by supplying houses. So hard working people who have scrimped and saved and bought themselves an investment property to try and make some money by short-term rentals get to be screwed with more taxes/fines/costs.
